Hibernian Ladies head into Wednesday’s UEFA Women’s Champions League Round of 32 first leg against Slavia Praha in fine form after a hard-fought away win at Spartans.
Grant Scott’s side produced four goals without reply but were made to work for it by the resilient hosts at Ainslie Park.
Hibs enjoyed plenty of the ball in the first half but couldn’t quite find the breakthrough, but they exploded into life after the break.
Four minutes after the restart it was Rachael Boyle who broke the deadlock.
Shannon McGregor played the ball in for Jamie-Lee Napier, who in turn laid it off to Boyle on the right.
She made no mistake with an unstoppable strike the flew beyond the diving Spartans shot-stopper.
Siobhan Hunter doubled the advantage on 71 minutes to continue her hot streak in front of goal.
Fresh from a hat-trick against Hearts, Hunter latched on to Boyle’s free-kick delivery to smash home with no shortage of conviction from just inside the box.
Hunter had her second – and Hibs’ third – within 10 minutes with Boyle again providing the ammunition.
Once more Boyle’s delivery from a free-kick proved problematic for Spartans and Hunter’s powerful header into the top left-hand corner proved unstoppable.
Two minutes later and Lauren Davidson rounded off the scoring for the afternoon.
Napier broke into the box from the left and played the ball into a dangerous area.
It fell perfectly for Davidson, who had timed her run to perfection before finishing with considerable composure.
The focus now turns to the big game on Wednesday night, as Slavia Praha come calling in the Champions League.
Tickets are available online and from the Ticket Office – priced at £10/£3 – and we hope to see as many of you as possible at Easter Road to cheer the team on!
