Hibernian are delighted to confirm the signing of Paul McGinn, subject to approval.
The versatile 29-year-old – who is predominantly a right-back but can play across defence and midfield – put pen to paper on an 18-month contract at the Hibernian Training Centre after sailing through his medical.
Paul joins for an undisclosed fee from St Mirren and will be eligible to feature in tomorrow’s Ladbrokes Premiership head to head with his old team-mates.
A product of Queen’s Park’s renowned youth set-up, Paul was picked up by Saints.
He gained first-team experience back on loan with The Spiders and then Dumbarton, where he worked under current Hibees Head Coach Jack Ross.
A permanent switch to The Sons followed before subsequent stints with Dundee, Chesterfield and Partick Thistle before he sealed a return to The Buddies.
Paul – who has been handed the number six shirt - is, of course, the brother of modern-day Hibs legend John McGinn and knows exactly what he’s walking into at Easter Road Stadium.
He said: “It’s a really proud day for me and the family. No-one needs to tell me how big a club Hibernian is, or what the potential is.
“When the gaffer told me he wanted me to sign it was a very short conversation. I didn’t need to be convinced.”
Jack added: “Paul’s someone I’ve known and rated for a long time, since I initially worked with him at Dumbarton.
“First and foremost, his attitude is first class.
“He’s an intelligent player who can operate in a number of positions and I’m convinced he’ll be a good addition to the squad here.”
You can watch Paul’s first interview as a Hibee in full on Hibs TV and on our YouTube channel.
