END OF AN ERA | DAVID HARDIE

Everyone at Hibernian would like to wish sports reporter David Hardie all the best for the future following his final shift for our local newspaper, The Edinburgh Evening News.

David’s bowed out after 44 years of service – 31 of them spent covering the Hibees’ ups and downs.

During that time David’s worked with 17 different permanent managers and covered everything from the Hands Off Hibs campaign which helped save the club to that day at Hampden in 2016, when we finally lifted the Scottish Cup.

Chief Executive Leeann Dempster said: “On behalf of everyone at Hibernian Football Club, I’d like to wish David all the best for the future and congratulate him on his incredible service to the Edinburgh Evening News over the years.

“David has been a popular and respected journalist who has witnessed first-hand some incredible highs and lows during his 31 years covering Hibernian.”

David was presented with a personalised strip by Sporting Director Graeme Mathie following his final day on the job as ‘Hibs man’ for Thursday’s press conference at the Hibernian Training Centre and we look forward to welcoming him back as a guest of the club in the near future.

He will be missed in the Press Box but we’re sure he won’t miss those 90th-minute rewrites!
