Kevin McBride sat down for a second time this season to face the Hibernian TV cameras - with much having changed since his first interview on the opening day of pre-season training.
There have been quite a few games played now, and McBride has been one of the new signings brought in by John Hughes who has certainly caught the eye of the Hibernian support. For the player himself it has been a learning process but one that he has enjoyed every minute of: "It's been a good start for me and the team I think - it took a few weeks to get used to things for us all but we've settled well, we had a good pre-season and a great start to the league although it was disappointing to lose against Celtic last time out. But I think we all have to be fairly happy with the start we've had."
The league fixtures threw Kevin in against his former team-mates at Falkirk in only his second league outing for Hibernian. The welcome at the Falkirk Stadium from the home support at least was pretty much just as Kevin had expected: "I thought I was playing for them again! I think we knew that was going to happen with myself and Patrick Cregg in a similar position, but we don't play for Falkirk any more, we play for Hibernian so the important thing for me that day was to help us get a result and we did that."
The job McBride has been given is perhaps one of the most unattractive in the side, sitting deep in the midfield for the most part and ensuring the ball reaches the players up front who are most likely to damage opponents: "My job is to sit deep - we have plenty of players capable of going forward and winning the game for us. I'm part of the team that is just there to link play up - collect it from the defenders and get it to the likes of Riordan, Nish and Stokes. The players we have up front at this Club are excellent, without wishing to down Falkirk when I was there we did not have players of that quality and its players like that who win you games.
"Stokes I think will need at least a couple of weeks to get fully up to speed, he is certainly looking really good in training. I never had the chance to play alongside him at Falkirk but I know all about him of course and I can see what he is capable of. But it has been easier for me coming here and playing alongside Patrick Cregg, and also playing for the Gaffer - I knew just what he was expecting so it was a case of concentrating on new team-mates.
"John Hughes is a great person to have around any club, he mingles so much that sometimes I think he forgets he is the manager - but that's the way he has always been and hopefully he won't change his ways because it works. He and Gareth Evans were playing in a bounce game with us the other day - just as well they're not players any more, their standard was absolutely shocking! I'm not sure than many of the boys here were used to that type of manager but he is full-on with the players and I think everyone enjoys that."
Hibernian are up next at New Douglas Park on Sunday when they face Hamilton Accies, a side still seeking their first points of the season and determined to do so on their own patch this weekend: "I think when you look back to Hibernian last year in the big games against the Old Firm and such they were excellent, but they did not take enough points against other sides when they perhaps should have. So we have to go out against Hamilton and do what we did against St Mirren and Falkirk, we need to win these games and still do well against the so-called 'bigger' clubs. So we know how big a game this is on Sunday, we have to be sure we are ready for it."
