Steven Tweed is under no illusions over the task that his side face in the Active Nation Scottish Cup tie at Easter Road on Saturday. Former Hibernian defender Tweed served his apprenticeship at Easter Road, and knows as well as any supporter the desire that will exist in the home side - and describing Hibernian as the 'form team' in the country right now, Tweed is well aware that his side will need to pull out something very special if they are to progress in the competition.

The season has been something of a struggle for Tweed and his Montrose side, but they did provide themselves with a massive boost last weekend when they travelled to Berwick and surprised everyone by leaving with all three points. That was a first league win of the season - and it could not have been timed better: "We're delighted that we took the pressure off a bit last week by winning a league game for the first time this season, our players can go and enjoy themselves a bit more at Easter Road and treat it for what it is, a big day in front of a big crowd.

"Some of them might well play there again while others may not - I won't be playing on Saturday, but it is not about Steven Tweed, it's about young players getting a chance to go and perform on that arena and hopefully they can take it on. Some will I'm sure flourish while for others it will be a test."   An injury may be forcing one ex-Hibernian player from turning out on Saturday - but there is another in the side whom Tweed is convinced will receive a rousing welcome by the home support: "Andy McNeil played in a cup-final side for Hibernian and that is something that nobody can ever take away from him.

"People should not forget either that Andy is still only 22-years-old, a very young age for a goalkeeper - and yet he has played 40 games for the Hibernian first team. Hibs supporters will realise that and I'm sure he will get a good reception from them when he returns on Saturday."   Having played 108 games for Hibernian Steven has experienced the other side of the SPL side against lower league opposition, including a match against his current club!  He recalls: "I played for Hibernian Montrose in 1994, but it is not about me using my experience, this game is all about individuals, you can tell them what they want to hear but it is about how they adapt on the day.

"John Hughes will be the same - he'll be getting his team up for this game with a chance to get into the quarter finals of the Scottish Cup, a competition Hibernian have not won in 108 years - that is a very big incentive. For them to have played Irvine Meadow at home in the last round and then get us, well it's a great draw and they are the form team in Scottish football right now.

"We meanwhile are bottom of the third division - the bottom side in the Scottish Football League, but we are flying the flag for our division as the only club from there left in the competition. That is a bit of an achievement in itself for Montrose, so all I'm expecting from my players on Saturday is to go out and give 100%, to give all that they have. They have to go out there and enjoy it, get on the ball and try and express themselves and if they can do that at Easter Road in front of a big crowd then they certainly have a chance to progress back up the leagues - be that as individuals or as a team."
