Hibernian FC is delighted to announce an innovative new scheme aimed at tackling a number of serious men's health issues.

All 12 top flight SPL clubs are rolling out the scheme 'Football Fans in Training' (FFIT) this autumn which aims to improve men's health. Targeting overweight 35-65 year old males, Hibernian will deliver a 12 week course with sessions being split between classroom health education and physical activity training.

Sitting on the bench? Need some help to get and healthy? The Club is looking to recruit 30 fans to new programme (starting 27 September) providing supporters with free sessions aimed at increasing physical activity, improving diet and promoting a healthy lifestyle.

FFIT is targeted at overweight males (35-65) who meet any of the following criteria: BMI of 27+ (Calculate this by visiting http://www.nhlbisupport.com/bmi/) Belly 100cm + (measure your waist and go around your belly!) Trouser waist size of 38 inches plus.

Tony Higgins of the SPL Trust Board said: "Football Fans in Training is the first nationwide health initiative co-ordinated by the SPL Trust. It demonstrates that football clubs are no longer just about 90 minutes on Saturday but recognise their responsibility to involve supporters and the local community throughout the week. With Football Fans in Training, supporters have the opportunity to get closer to their local club, work with professional coaches and make positive changes to their lifestyle."

Developed by club coaches in conjunction with top medical and sports science professionals in Scotland and the Scottish Government Public Health Directorate, the unique new programme received a donation of over £250,000 from The Football Pools, and additional support from the Scottish Government.
