Leigh Griffiths speaks exclusively to Hibernian TV with the striker issuing a public apology to the club's supporters.
Griffiths will miss the next two Clydesdale Bank Scottish Premier League matches after receiving the suspension and he is also banned for the William Hill Scottish Cup tie against Kilmarnock for a separate incident.
As a result, Griffiths admits he needs to 'grow up', says he was embarrassed by his behaviour and reaffirmed his love for Hibernian; the club he has supported since childhood.
Griffiths said: "I would like to issue an apology to the fans; it was done out of sheer frustration. It was obviously a really silly thing to do.
"That's me getting done three times now; you'd have thought I'd have learned my lesson after the first two times.
"But I've done it again and now I'll cop a bigger ban than before. It was done out of sheer stupidity, but I can tell you now that it won't happen again.
"I'm trying hard in every game that I play and I think the fans are starting to see the best of me - I've scored four goals in three games.
"When I come back from my ban I will be trying harder than ever to help Hibs to push up the table."
A former Leith Athletic player, local lad Griffiths says he feels the same pain the supporters experience when Hibernian lose and wants to do everything he can to ensure his fellow fans experience better times.
He said: "When we lose, it hurts me a lot - I'm a Hibs fan. I'm playing for the team that I love and I don't want to see them getting beat."
With Griffiths scheduled to sit out the next three games, the Scotland under-21 internationalist says it is an incredibly bitter pill to swallow, but has vowed to act more maturely on the pitch and work hard to win over the Easter Road crowd.
He said: "It's really frustrating. The manager has had a word with me and I need to grow up quickly.
"So I've got to take my ban on the chin, work hard in training and then hopefully when my ban is up the manager will select me and I can score more goals for the team."
