Pat Fenlon speaks exclusively to Hibernian TV about the latest state of play on the transfer front and says he is determined to add more experienced players to the squad before the closure of the window.

The manager successfully completed the loan signings of James McPake and Tom Soares on Monday - players he believes will make a big impact.

Fenlon said: "It's been ongoing for a few weeks and it has been a long stretch. But I'm delighted we've got both players in.

"I said at the start we're looking to bring in some experienced players and I think both of them fit into that category.

"They give us experience and knowledge of the game. James is a good organiser as well. Tom has real quality as you can see by the level he's played at.

"We're obviously trying to bring in a few more if we can. But I think these two will be big additions to the squad.

"You need experienced professionals that know what it takes playing under pressure - like we are at the moment - and to how to deal with that."

On the topic of Leigh Griffiths' suspension, Fenlon admits he is deeply frustrated by the ban.

He added: "We'll deal with that in house - I've done enough talking about that now.

"He's just got to learn. He is going to miss so many matches for us. When one of your players, who is in real fine form, is not available to you for something so silly it is difficult for a manager to take."

The boss reveals how we narrowly missed out on transfer target Michael Tonge, but stresses that is the type of player he is after - seasoned professionals with on-field nous.

He said: "We're talking to a couple of clubs. We were talking to Stoke about a couple of their players and we missed out on one in the end which was close to getting done.

"The category of player I want to bring in are experienced professionals, who know the game.

"We are in a scrap at the moment and we need players who are willing to come and scrap it out with us."

The boss also discusses McPake's credentials as a Hibernian captain, talks about potential departures and also gives his overview of the current situation at the club.
