For many years Hibernian Ladies has rightly been regarded as one of the elite clubs within the women's game in Scotland.

Many of the best players to feature in the beautiful game in this country have worn the famous green and white shirt with pride and success has followed the club wherever they have played.

For a long time the club's youth policy has rightly been regarded as the best in the business as Hibs Girls have emulated the trophy laden years of the senior side.

The latest Hibernian side to clinch silverware is the girls' under-15 team who defeated Letham Girls recently to claim the League Cup.

After defeating Musselburgh Windsor 4-1 away from home, the girls then thrashed city rivals Heart of Midlothian 4-0 in the semi-final despite having a depleted squad to choose from.

Four would prove the magic number for the Hibees as the clinched the trophy in style, defeating Letham Girls 4-0 thanks to goals from Caitlin Hall (2), Caitlin Russell and Kelsey Boyle, at a very wet Spartans Academy.

Team administrator Tracey Jefferies commented: "It was a great victory for the girls, achieved against very difficult opponents that had already beaten us in pre-season.

"Winning the competition is great motivation for all the girls to train harder, work harder and enjoy their football.

"The coaches are all proud of the girls' achievement. It makes all the cold and wet training sessions worthwhile when they see the girls so happy after lifting the silverware."

So far this season the girls have dropped just two points - courtesy of a 1-1 draw with Hutchison Vale - and are fighting hard for the league title.

With a team full of talented individuals, there are high hopes for these players and a bright future is predicted.

Tracey said: "Several of the girls are involved in the South East Regional performance squad and more are expected to join this year.

"Six of the team have also recently won the Lothian Buses U14s youth league division 4 with Fernieside Colts, where they are the only team to field a mix of boys and girls.

"Many of the girls are still eligible to play at U13 level, but due to their ability have moved up this season to play 11-a-side.

"Willie Kirk (Hibernian Ladies Head Coach) expects many of these girls to be playing in the Scottish Women's Premier League in years to come."

The Hibs cup final heroes were; Lauren Stewart, Jamie-Lee Smith, Caitlin Lynch, Nina Mason, Erin Burns, Kelsey Boyle, Chelsea Cornet, Megan Burnet, Caitlin Russell, Ellie, Fairgrieve, Becca Smith, Kirsty Jefferies, Lauren Watters, Dee Moffat, Caitlin Hall and Caitlin Knox.
