Hibernian is pleased to confirm that Paul Cairney has agreed a two year deal with the club - becoming manager Pat Fenlon's third new signing of the summer transfer window.

The Glasgow-born midfielder scored 18 goals in over 100 appearances for Partick Thistle and boss Fenlon believes the 24-year-old will add something different to the team's attacking armoury.

Fenlon said: "Paul is a player who has been on our radar for a while now and we're delighted to be able to add him to the squad for the new season.

"He will offer us something different - he is a midfielder, who likes to get forward and is always looking to spark a game into life.

"He can play in a number of positions both in midfield and in the forward areas and can finish well when he gets the chance.

"Paul has also got a fantastic attitude and never hides in a game; he is always looking to get on the ball. Plus he has the drive and ambition to help us to move forward as a team.

"We're pleased with the progress we're making on the transfer front but we're hopeful we canadd some more new faces in the near future."

Cairney, who started off his career at Queen's Park, says he is delighted to have finalised his move to Easter Road and now says he wants to fulfil his potential in the green of Hibernian.

Cairney said: "It's absolutely amazing to sign for Hibernian - it's definitely the highlight of my career so far.

"But this is just the start of it all; now I want to show the Hibs fans what I'm all about by working hard and playing my part in helping the team to achieve success.

"Hibs are a massive club; everything is in place for us to kick on and have a strong season. I'm going to be doing everything I can to make sure that happens and I'm really excited about the future."

Cairney follows in the footsteps of defenders Tim Clancy and James McPake who have already joined Hibernian over the past two weeks while left-back Scott Smith has also agreed a new one year contract with the club.
