James McDonaugh says it was a case of mission accomplished after watching Hibernian under-20s comfortably win 5-0 at Vale of Leithen in the squad's final pre-season friendly.

The goals were scored by Jay Doyle, David Paul and three from a trialist and served as an important final practice match before the SPL U20 League starts on Tuesday.

McDonaugh said: "This was the last of our nine pre-season games and we got what we wanted out of the game - a clean sheet, some decent goals and a good work-out.

"We were able to move the ball around well and penetrated their defence at the right times plus we made the right decisions on the ball.

"I was also pleased with the way all the subs made positive contributions. Thanks go to Vale of Leithen and their management team for staging the fixture and now we're ready for Ross County on Tuesday."
