Congratulations to Sammy Stanton after the Hibernian midfielder scored the winning goal for Scotland under-19s against Norway in Vinstra yesterday.

The 18-year-old, who has progressed through the youth ranks at Hibernian from the age of 12, came off the bench as a second half substitute and contributed the winner with a 20-yard shot to make it 2-1 to the Young Scots.

Fellow Hibernian under-20s player Alex Harris also featured as a substitute in the victory and the pair are expected to play in the next friendly fixture against Norway in Otta tomorrow (Saturday 25 August).

Stanton, who made his debut for the under-19s recently against Germany, said: "It was a great feeling to score for my country. The fact it was the winning goal and a good strike made it even better. I enjoyed every minute of it and I'm hoping to build on that in the next game if selected."

Fresh from thumping St Mirren 8-1 at Linlithgow on Tuesday evening, the under-20s were back in action today in a friendly against Dundee United at St Andrews.

The young team in bottle green's next competitive game is against Motherwell on Tuesday 4 September (full details to be confirmed, please check back on www.hibernianfc.co.uk).
