Hibernian can confirm the arrival of Northern Ireland internationalist Ryan McGivern, who joins the club on loan from Manchester City until January 2013.
The 22-year-old left-back has been capped 16 times by Northern Ireland and has previously experienced loan spells with Morecambe, Leicester City, Walsall, Crystal Palace and Bristol City.
Now the Newry-born defender says he is excited about representing Hibernian in the Scottish Premier League.
McGivern said: "I'm just really excited about playing for Hibernian and helping the team to do well in the SPL.
"Obviously growing up in Northern Ireland I'm well awareof what the SPL is all about - it's a good, competitive league with passionate supporters.
"So when I became aware of the fact there was an opportunity for me to move here to Hibernian I didn't need to be asked twice.
"Hibs have enjoyed a decent start to the SPL season so far and I'm looking forward to be able to play my part in helping the squad to build on that start.
"I also want to repay the faith shown in me by the manager, Pat Fenlon and to show the Hibs supporters what I'm all about.
"I've got a good feeling about the loan move and hopefully I can play regularly in a successful Hibs side."
Manager Pat Fenlon welcomed his ninth signing of the summer window on deadline day and believes McGivern will prove to be an asset to the squad.
Fenlon said: "Even though Ryan is still only 22, he is an experienced footballer - both domestically and onthe international stage with Northern Ireland.
"He has already recorded 75 appearances and last season he made over 30 starts in the Championship with Crystal Palace and Bristol City.
"So we believe Ryan can instantly add some extra quality to the squad and he is a confident, strong-minded character, who will fit in well with the group."
