Jordon Forster says he is thrilled to have agreed a new contract with the club that will keep the defender at Hibernian until the summer of 2016.

The 19-year-old has started both of new manager Terry Butcher's opening two games in charge and helped Hibernian to record two clean sheets.

Forster, who made his debut in last season's Edinburgh Derby win at Tynecastle, says he is delighted to have signed a new deal.

Forster said: "I'm absolutely delighted to have signed a new contract; I'm enjoying every minute of my time at Hibs and believe I'm improving as a player.

"It's great to have the security of a long-term contract and now I can just concentrate on performing well for Hibs and helping us to progress on the pitch.

"The new manager has been great with me and for the past two games he has given me an opportunity to show what I can do.

"I feel I'm learning with each and every game and my goal is to achieve success with Hibs."

Boss Terry Butcher welcomed the news and says he has been impressed with the teenager's maturity and all-round game.

Butcher said: "I think Jordon has done tremendously well. He is a big boy - strong, good on the ball and his timing in the air is very good as well.

"He is going to be a very good player and he is already a very good player.

"I've been delighted with him and he has shown maturity beyond his years."

Centre half Forster was one of four recent Hibernian Academy graduates to feature in the 2013 Scottish Cup Final and was previously on loan at Berwick Rangers and East Fife.
