Hibernian can confirm Martin Boyle has joined the club on loan from Dundee with Alex Harris heading in the opposite direction until the end of the season.
Forward Boyle, 21, started off his career with Montrose, where he scored 36 goals in 66 starts, before joining Dundee in August 2012.
The quick winger, who can also play through the middle, helped Dundee to win promotion last season and he says he wants to replicate the feat with Hibernian in 2015.
Speaking exclusively to Hibs TV, Boyle said: “I’m really looking forward to playing for Hibs on loan – it has been brilliant so far.
“Winning promotion with Dundee last season was the highlight of my career so far and hopefully I can do the same with Hibs this year.
“The manager has been first class and says he wants me to express myself.
“My objective is to help the team to go up into the Premiership and use my pace to create opportunities and to score goals.”
Although he grew up in Aberdeen, Boyle reveals he was born in Edinburgh and lived in Dunbar, situated 19 miles away from the club’s Training Centre, before moving north as a child.
He added: “I’ve still got a lot of family in Dunbar, so it’s great to be able to move here. My Dad’s job meant that we moved up to Aberdeen when I was very young.”
Head Coach Alan Stubbs welcomed the news and believes Boyle’s pace will add something fresh to the team’s attacking options.
Stubbs said: “Martin gives us a different option – he adds real pace and he is very dynamic and positive.
“He will add something extra to the group of players we already have here at the club.”
Stubbs was also keen to explain Harris’ loan move to Dundee is designed to help his development and that the 20-year-old is still a part of his long-term plans.
He added: “Alex will be coming back in the summer – he is still firmly part of my plans.
“We felt it was a good opportunity for Alex to develop in a different environment and for him to get some game-time in the Premiership.
“We had shown an interest in Martin and Dundee were interested in Alex, so the loan agreement suited both clubs.”
Boyle will wear squad number 17 and he is eligible to play in today's Edinburgh Derby.
