ABI HARRISON PREVIEWS HAMILTON MATCH

By: Hibernian Media on 16 May, 2018 09:30

Hibernian take on Hamilton Academical in the SBS SWPL this evening at Easter Road Stadium and forward Abi Harrison says that the team are looking forward to the occasion.

Abi says that it is something the players in the squad are all looking forward to massively as playing at the ground brings around fond memories of past matches, as well as being the first time many of the squad will take to the pitch in Leith.

Abi said: “It’s great to play at Easter Road, the facilities are just brilliant and it’s a huge thing. It’s a good attraction for the fans and the team.

“For someone who grew up in Glasgow I probably don’t appreciate it enough compared to the ones in the squad who have supported Hibs all their days.

“Personally, I’ve got a good record at Easter Road and have scored a couple of goals, so it would be nice to add to that with another goal as long as we win.

“We have also played some big games at the stadium, including the Champions League game against Bayern Munich there, so it holds a lot of fond memories for us all.

“There will be people playing there for the first time so it is a huge opportunity for them and we thank the club for letting us play at the stadium.

“Hopefully we can get some of the supporters out to come along to back us and we can show them what we can do as a team. We want to replicate the success and the performances that the men’s team have had over the season at the ground.”

Following Sunday’s 1-1 draw with Glasgow City, Hibernian are joint-top of the table alongside City and Celtic, and will be looking to take maximum points against Hamilton.

Despite Hamilton being at the opposite end of the table from Hibernian, with just one win to their name so far this season, Abi insists that the side will not be taking the challenge lightly.

The strike said: “It’s very important that we keep our focus against Hamilton. We had the game against Glasgow City and then have the League Cup final, so it is important that we go into this game fully focussed.

“We don’t want to drop points against teams below us in the league that we are expected to take maximum points from as that will come back to haunt us when it comes to the end of the season.

“We’re all motivated. No matter who we play or where we play, we’ll be going in and playing our own game. We won’t change to suit anyone else because we believe in our ability and the way that we play.

“We take every game as they come and prepare the same way, so there will be no disrespect or underestimating of any side. We do our research and will be looking forward to the game.

“Everyone in the squad will all be hoping that we can keep the momentum going in the league ahead of the summer break – and maybe claim some silverware on Sunday.”

The match against Hamilton kicks off at 7:45pm, with entry £5 for adults and £3 for concessions. All fans will be housed in the lower tier of the West Stand.
