Ryan Porteous and Stevie Mallan starred for Scotland U21s in Tuesday night’s 2-1 win over the Netherlands.
Both players started the European Championship qualifying match as a double from Everton striker Fraser Hornby earned Scot Gemmill’s side a second victory of the campaign against the Dutch. Oli Shaw was on the bench for the young Scots.
The side now sit third in Group 4, behind Ukraine on goal difference ahead of the final two group matches against Ukraine and England next month.
Daryl Horgan came on for the Republic of Ireland in the 81st minute of their 1-1 draw with Poland. He replaced goalscorer Aiden O’Brien but was denied a friendly win through Mateusz Klich’s late equaliser.
Vykintas Slivka played the full match for Lithuania as they fell to a 2-0 defeat in Montenegro in the UEFA Nations League.
