Goalkeeper Ofir Marciano says that he was happy to be named in the first team squad for the weekend’s 6-0 victory over Hamilton Academical at Easter Road Stadium.
The Israeli shot-stopper is delighted to have made one of the targets he set for himself after undergoing surgery on his finger injury and will not relax now that he has been involved with the first team once again.
Ofir said: “It was great to be back involved. When you set yourself a target and you get it, it is a very good feeling and I am happy.
“I started a journey with my injury and I am happy that I have made one of my targets.
“I won’t rest now. I need to move forward and chase all of my other targets.”
Adam Bogdan, who joined on loan from Liverpool at the beginning of the season, has held his place in goal from our first competitive game against NSI Runavik in UEFA Europa League qualifying, missing just three games so far this campaign.
Now, the Israeli knows that he has to prove himself once again to Neil Lennon as he aims to take his place back on the pitch for the club after an impressive start to the season for his Hungarian team-mate.
Ofir says that it is a great challenge for him and is determined to work hard to reclaim his position between the sticks once again.
He commented: “It is a great challenge for me. In your career you haver to face challenges and I take this situation as a gift.
“Again, I am just back to shape now. My first step was being back in the squad after my operation. I am happy to now be involved.
“My second step is getting back to the place that I have been – the first choice goalkeeper. It won’t be easy, but it’s up to me.
“I need to prove again to the gaffer and the staff that I am ready and I’m there and for them to trust me. I will work hard for that.”
