Hibernian players Martin Boyle, Jamie Maclaren and Mark Milligan have been called into the Australia squad for their upcoming friendly against South Korea.
A second friendly is pencilled in against Lebanon, however, Graham Arnold is due to confirm a squad for that match in the near future.
Jamie and Mark have been involved with Australia on numerous occasions, with Martin having also previously been included in the Socceroos’ training camp in the Middle East in October.
The attacker is now eligible to play for the country of his father’s birth and said he is delighted to be drafted into the squad and is looking forward to potentially making his debut in the match in Brisbane at the Suncorp Stadium.
Martin said: “I’m delighted to have been called up for the squad for the game against South Korea, it will be a good experience for me as I am now eligible to play in the friendly.
“Going away on the training camp last month was great for me to get bedded into the squad, so there aren’t any nerves going away this time out.
“The squad has only been confirmed for the match against South Korea, so it would be great to make my debut in that game.
“My target is to just make a good, positive impression on the manager and the supporters and represent the country with pride. If that leads to my involvement in the Lebanon game, then that would be a brilliant add-on.”
Martin also spoke of the positive message it sends out about the players at Hibernian to have three of them named in the Socceroos’ team.
After exposure to the national team set-up last month, he is eager to get going and learn from the experiences to improve as a player for both club and country.
He said: “Having both Jamie, Mark and myself in there is great for the club in the first instance, as well as on an individual basis.
“There are a lot of good players in the squad and there are guys that I can learn from and the experience will hopefully benefit me as a player.
“I can’t wait to get started after getting a wee taste of it in October.”
