It's Scottish Cup week - and every day in the build-up to Saturday’s game at home to Elgin City we will be looking back at a tie from this stage of the competition.
Today we look back at our meeting against Heart of Midlothian at Easter Road Stadium in December 2012.
After a closely fought encounter at the start of the 2012/13 season in Leith, which ended in a 1-1 draw thanks to Leigh Griffiths’ equalising goal, not many were expecting a game full of chances.
They were to be proven correct as this was another tightly contested Edinburgh Derby with chances at a premium as neither side were willing to give an inch.
Tom Taiwo had the best opportunity but sliced his shot high and wide from the edge of the area while the closest our visitors came was when a cross-come-shot from the left touchline looped over a stranded Ben Williams and onto the crossbar.
As is often the case in such tense affairs it looked as if a costly error or a moment of fortune would be enough to snatch a victory and with only 7 minutes remaining it was the latter.
David Wotherspoon bamboozled Kevin McHattie on the right and unleashed a shot which took a wicked deflection off Hearts skipper Marius Zaliukus and into the net.
The goal would later go down as an own-goal but that made no odds to the majority inside Easter Road who went home overjoyed as the Hibees marched into the Fifth Round.
