Daryl Horgan is the latest Hibernian player to be called-up for international duty by his country after being included in Mick McCarthy’s provisional squad for the upcoming Republic of Ireland matches against Gibraltar and Georgia.
The winger, who has six caps to his name to date, has been a stand-out for Hibernian this season scoring five times and registering nine assists in his 29 appearances for the team.
If included in the final squad, expected to be confirmed on Sunday 17 March, McCarthy will undoubtedly be looking for the 26-year-old to replicate his club form while playing for the Irish national team for their pivotal matches as they attempt to qualify for the next major international tournament.
The news follows on from the Scotland Under-21 call-ups for Oli Shaw and Sean Mackie – which is the left-back’s first inclusion in Scot Gemmill’s squad.
The Scotland U21s are due to face Sweden and Mexico in Spain during the upcoming international break in friendly matches as they prepare for the next batch of European Championship Qualifiers.
