Chelsea Cornet is looking for her team-mates to take their SWPL Cup form into Friday’s final against Glasgow City.
En route to the final, Hibernian defeat Heart of Midlothian, Stirling University and Spartans to reach a fifth successive final, with the team looking to win the SWPL Cup for a fourth year running.
She said: “It’s definitely a game that we’re looking forward to, all the squad are buzzing for it coming around.
“We’ve had time to prepare and that’s what our sole focus is on just now.
“We’ve performed really well in the competition so far. With it being a cup that we are trying to retain there is a lot of pressure on us from other teams.
“As a team, we’re looking to take that form into the final against Glasgow City.”
The midfielder is still young at the age of 21, however, she also has an incredible wealth of experience having played in the several finals and European football for Hibernian.
Chelsea has started the past three SWPL Cup finals, seeing Hibernian win 2-1 against Glasgow City in 2016 before winning 4-1 and 9-0 against Celtic in 2017 and 2018 respectively, and she spoke about how those experiences have helped her become a better player.
With several new players in the squad, some getting their first taste of being involved in a game of this magnitude, she also said that the more experienced players will look to offer reassurance and guidance to them.
“The feeling is unbelievable when you win in a final. Obviously all of the hype is around the final, so to come out at the other end with a win, it feels amazing,” said Chelsea.
She continued: “The experience that I’ve been able to gain going up against tough opposition in these finals has been unbelievable too.
“One of the main things I’ve gained from playing in these matches is how to control my nerves. I was a nervous playing, so I found it difficult to control my nerves at the start. Now that I have experience in these finals I can manage them better and it doesn’t affect my performance.
“The players in the squad that have that experience in cup finals can pass on a lot to the newer players in the group, we’ll just reassure them that this is any other game and let them know that they can just go out and play to the level that we know they can.”
Glasgow City offer daunting opposition in Friday’s final and Chelsea knows that the best way to overcome them is to prepare really well in the build-up to the match.
She also knows that there is a burning desire within the squad to retain the trophy for another year, which is the side’s ultimate goal.
Chelsea commented: “For us to win the tournament, we need to keep preparing well up until Friday and do that as a squad and just stick together.
“Friday is our main focus and we’re really determined to get the win and retain the trophy.”
The match between Hibernian and Glasgow City takes place at the Pennycars Stadium, Airdrie, on Friday 10 May with a 7:35pm kick-off. Click here for ticketing information for the SWPL Cup Final.
