Hibernian supporter Darren Thomson fulfilled a lifelong dream when he interviewed boyhood hero Lewis Stevenson at the Hibernian Training Centre.
The 22-year-old aspiring YouTuber suffered a stroke back on June 5 2017 that left him unable to speak for fourth months.
When Darren rediscovered his speech, his first words were a comment on our city rivals that aren’t quite fit for publication on the official website!
Darren, a winger with the Gala Fairydean Rovers Disability Squad, is still in a wheelchair but is going from strength to strength.
He is determined to walk again and is applying that same level of perseverance to his journalistic ambitions.
Top of his wish-list was long-serving left-back Lewis Stevenson, who was only too happy to meet Darren and reflect on his successful career with the Hibees.
Not that Darren made it easy for the two-time Cup winner, with a few curveball questions thrown in to keep him on his toes!
Lewis said: “It was great to meet Darren. He’s obviously so passionate about Hibs and you would never know he had been through so much.
“His enthusiasm shone through and it’s easily one of the most enjoyable interviews I’ve ever done. Even if he did ask me the odd tricky question!”
Darren himself said: “I had a great day at HTC. It was honestly a dream come true and I’m struggling to put it all into words.
“I still can’t believe it happened, to be honest. Lewis was great with me and it was amazing to also meet Paul Heckingbottom and Robbie Stockdale.”
