Flashback to 2017… Hibernian 3-0 Dundee United

As we face Dundee United this weekend, we’ve looked back on an eye-catching win and performance against them at Easter Road.

A 3-0 win helped Neil Lennon secure a four-point lead in the Scottish Championship against Dundee United and took us a step closer to a return to the Premiership.

“We attacked with great verve, we counter-attacked brilliantly and looked a threat all evening,” said Neil Lennon in an interview after the game with BBC Sport.

“This is a tough league, and we are not taking anything for granted. But this gives us a bit of a cushion now."

Striker Jason Cummings was on top form! He bagged after just six minutes after the ball fell kindly to him in the area. He stayed cool and placed the ball past the ‘keeper.

20 minutes later and he had a brace, this time he clipped home a loose ball after an excellent piece of play by debutant Chris Humphrey.

John McGinn sealed the win and made a tremendous return from injury by scoring the final goal through a terrific solo effort.

"We have missed John," added Neil. "We weren't sure if we could give him 15 minutes, but the medical team said he was OK.

“We just wanted him in there to shore things up, but he did more than that. He is a class player."

Lennon also reserved special praise for debutant Humphrey: “I have always liked Chris, and the recruitment team did a great job getting him here.

“His attitude has been fantastic and from day one he has looked the part. It was a great debut.”
