The 2020/21 season is one we won’t forget in a hurry with the pandemic and public health restrictions hitting the game hard with fans unable to attend matches at Easter Road and across Scotland. The way supporters have followed their team, including how the watch games, has changed beyond recognition over the last 12 months.
But as ever, Hibernian fans have continued to back their Club, and the continued support has not gone unnoticed.
From Head Coach Jack Ross and the players to our Executive Chairman, Ronald Gordon, and the staff, we’ve been blown away by the ongoing support and we will be forever grateful for everything you’ve done for your club this year.
Since the first ball was kicked in our opening day victory against Kilmarnock back in August 2020, Hibernian Supporters have raised over £200,000 for the football club.
These additional funds have made a real difference during an incredibly challenging period for clubs across the country and has helped us to remain competitive on the pitch.
The strength of Hibernian Supporters comes from significant numbers of ordinary fans donating regular, small amounts each month – collectively creating really meaningful contributions to the club.
We cannot thank each and every fan enough for their support this season and we extend our thanks to all members of Hibernian Supporters once again for their additional backing.
As we look ahead to the final five Premiership fixtures of the season and the resumption of the Scottish Cup we are delighted to support the Hibernian Supporters #RoadToEurope initiative as we push on to try and book our place in European Competition next season.
The latest campaign aims to raise awareness of the good work being done by fans and to encourage supporters to join them in a push to increase the size of its membership before the end of the season.
Hibernian Supporters chairman Jim Adie is incredibly grateful for the support shown by fans over the course of a difficult season for us all. Hibs fans have backed the club throughout the last year and we are all hopeful that your loyalty will be rewarded with European qualification.
“Since the start of the pandemic we have been blown away by the desire of our members and supporters to help the club through a difficult trading period with no fans in attendance at Easter Road,” he said.
“We have always said that we wanted to provide fans with a platform to help the club if they were in a position to do so and as we come to the end of the season we think it appropriate to reflect on a huge collective effort across the board which has given us a good chance of qualifying for Europe.
“We believe the last 12 months has shown the strength of the Hibernian support and we hope our #RoadToEurope initiative will encourage fans to consider coming on board as we all look to finish the season strongly and move into the summer with confidence.”
