Hibs U18s continued their impressive start to the season with a 3-0 victory over derby rivals Hearts U18s at Riccarton on Friday.
The young Hibees swept Dundee United aside 4-0 in their opening encounter against Dundee United on April 9, and they made it seven goals in two games in impressive fashion at the Oriam.
Mackenzie Weir headed Hibs into the lead before Josh O’Connor and Connor Young rounded off the scoring in the second half.
There was one change to the starting line-up as Ethan Laidlaw – who featured in the first team squad at Ibrox - dropped to the bench to make way for the returning Jacob Blaney.
Robbie Hamilton and Jayden Fairley had early opportunities but it was Weir who powered a header beyond McFarlane to give Hibs the lead.
Blaney then saw a free-kick skiff the post as Hibs sought to make good their dominance, and the woodwork came to Hearts’ rescue eight minutes after the break when Young’s 20-yard free kick came crashing back off the crossbar.
Just before the hour mark, Hibs went two up when O’Connor curled home and, after Hearts piled on pressure to reduce arrears, Young completed the scoring with an excellent turn and shot from the edge of the area.
