Lee Johnson emphasised the importance of playing with passion ahead of Sunday's Edinburgh Derby with Hearts.
Lee Johnson will take charge of the Hibees for his first Edinburgh Derby as a Manager when Hearts visit Easter Road on Sunday.
Ahead of the game, Johnson sat down with Hibs TV to talk through what expects of the fixture and his message to the players ahead of kick-off.
He told us: “We need to make sure we play with fire in their belly and ice in our head that a derby requires. You need to be able to play with passion but to be able to control your emotions, so you can execute that bit of quality, when it is needed.
“The boys should relish the occasion, we will go into it without fear. We have won the first game of the season and the momentum is certainly with us this week, there has been a great vibe around the place."
After our opening day win over St Johnstone, Johnson praised the support our fans gave us in Perth, and stressed the importance of the sell-out crowd for Sunday's fixture.
"The Derby is about two very big Clubs with an important history and rivalry. There are three points on the line as well and we want to continue our winning start for sure.
“Since I have come in, we have spoken about the importance of the fans within our performance. Sunday will be a great test of that and a chance to show we can fight together in the stands and on the pitch.
"The players understand that, and we have left no stone unturned in our preparations. Everyone is ready for it, we will make sure they battle for every ball and then when we get into good areas we need to show our quality.”
