Jon Busch Appointed New Head of Goalkeeping

Jon Busch has been named the new Head of Goalkeeping at Hibernian FC.

The 45-year-old is the latest new face to join Shaun Maloney’s coaching staff and will play a key role in the development of the goalkeepers in our Academy and First Team set up.

The former US International enjoyed an established 21-year playing career, predominantly featuring in the MLS, where he represented Columbus Crew, Chicago Fire and San Jose Earthquakes. It was during his time at Chicago Fire when he met our Manager, Shaun Maloney.

Busch also kept a clean sheet in his first, and only appearance for the US National Team, back in March 2005.

Since hanging up his gloves, he has embarked on a coaching career at North American Soccer League Club, Indy Eleven. He’s been their Academy Goalkeeping Coach since 2017.

Alongside this, the 2008 MLS Goalkeeper of the Year has worked with the US Youth National Teams ranging from U14 to U23, which includes the US Olympics Soccer Team.

Busch replaces Craig Samson who has now departed the club by mutual consent.

Everyone at Hibernian FC thanks Craig for all his efforts and wishes him all the best for the future.
