Matt Macey Joins Luton Town

We can confirm that Matt Macey has joined English Championship side Luton Town.

The upfront transfer fee received for the 27-year-old will remain undisclosed, alongside this the Club will receive further add-ons and a sell-on clause is also included.

Macey joined Hibernian FC in January 2021 from Arsenal and went on to make 56 appearances for the Club, keeping 18 clean sheets in the process.

During his time with us, the 6ft 7’ goalkeeper featured in both the Scottish Cup and Premier Sports Cup Finals and was virtually ever-present during the 2021/22 campaign.

Hibernian FC Chief Executive Ben Kensell commented: “We’d like to thank Matt for his contribution and efforts during his time at the Club.

"On and off the pitch, Matt was a model professional and we wish him all the best for the future.

"To grow Hibernian FC and to provide further transfer funds for our squad, player trading is vital, alongside increasing our club-controlled income.

"I’d like to thank Luton for the way negotiations were conducted and we believe we’ve got a really beneficial deal for our football club.”
