THE LOWDOWN

The Hibees will be looking to continue the progress made on the opening day weekend as Lee Johnson’s side prepare to face Hearts at Easter Road (Kick-off at 12 noon).

Josh Campbell’s dramatic winner late on at McDiarmid Park last weekend was the difference as we began the season with a well-earned 1-0 win away against St. Johnstone.

This Sunday’s game is the first of four matches coming up in August, with trips to Livingston (13 August) and St Mirren (27 August) on either side of the Hibee’s home fixture against Rangers on 20 August.

THE OPPOSITION

Hearts finished third in the cinch Premiership in their previous campaign and also began their season last weekend, edging past Ross County in a 2-1 victory. Goals from Alan Forrest and Barrie McKay were the difference.

Last season’s league finish has also meant they have avoided the group stages of the Premier Sports Cup campaign. Despite this, Hearts have had a busy pre-season, losing to Preston North End 2-1 and drawing 2-2 against Crawley Town before overcoming Stoke City at Tynecastle.

Kye Rowles, Alan Forrest, Lawrence Shankland and Lewis Neilson all made their competitive debuts for Hearts last weekend.

TEAM NEWS

Paul Hanlon, Jake Doyle-Hayes and Demetri Mitchell got minutes under their belt in the week, playing as part of the Development Squad side that travelled to Queen’s Park.

However, Kyle Magennis, Lewis Stevenson, Aiden McGeady and Kevin Nisbet are still to be absent from the Hibernian FC squad.
