Preview: Hearts (H)

It's derby weekend as the Hibees host Hearts at Easter Road on Saturday for the Capital Cup. You can read the full preview below!

THE LOWDOWN

The Capital Cup returns this Saturday as Hibs host Hearts at Easter Road, with the kick-off at 2pm.

The Hibees head into Saturday’s derby in excellent form, having won their last three matches with a goal difference of 23-1.

The most recent victory was a 7-0 win over Dundee United in the Sky Sports Cup quarter-finals, which saw Eilidh Adams both captain the side and net a hat-trick on her 100th appearance for the club.

With two hat-tricks already this season, childhood Hibee Eilidh will have plenty of motivation heading into this weekend’s game against Hearts.

It should be noted that if Saturday's match ends in a draw, there will not be a penalty shootout and the cup will be retained by the current holders.

THE OPPOSITION

The two sides have met once already this season back on September 10th at Tynecastle Park in a match that saw Hibs secure an impressive 1-0 victory.

Eva Olid’s side head into the derby in good form as they are undefeated in their last four matches, most recently drawing 0-0 with the defending champions Glasgow City.

Hearts currently sit 4th in the SWPL 1 table, level on points with the Hibees in 5th but ahead on goal difference. Interestingly, the two sides have identical records of six wins, two draws and four losses in the league so far this season. This means a win for Grant Scott’s side on Saturday will see them leapfrog their rivals in the table.
