Report: Hibs U18s 0-3 St Mirren

Our Under-18s fell to a disappointing 3-0 defeat to St Mirren in the Under-18 CAS Elite Youth League.

Like the Kilmarnock game last week, Darren McGregor named a young Hibs side, made up of players aged between U18 and U15 age groups, due to injuries and players working with Nick Montgomery and the First Team.

There was very little between the two sides in the opening 30 minutes of the game, with Hibs’ best chance coming from a corner.

It was the Buddies, however, that took the lead. Around the 35 minute mark a deep cross to the back post was volleyed in at close range.

McGregor and his coaching team were looking for a reaction at half-time, but a terrific long-range effort put the visitors 2-0 ahead. A St Mirren youngster let rip from around 25-yards out and gave the Hibs ‘keeper no chance.

With just minutes remaining in the game, St Mirren made it three from the penalty spot. Owen Hastie brought down an attacker in the box, before the penalty was dispatched expertly.
