Talented MacIntyre Brothers Sign Long-Term Deals

We are delighted to announce that Jacob and Oscar MacIntyre have signed long-term contracts with Hibernian FC.

The young, talented brothers have shone in the Hibernian FC Academy impressing for the Under-18s last season and for the Development Squad since its launch this summer.

Oscar MacIntyre will be a name that some supporters recognise. The left back made his professional debut for the Club last season coming on as a substitute in a 4-0 win over St Johnstone.

The 17-year-old has also been around the matchday squad this year being on the bench against Greenock Morton and playing 45 minutes against Norwich City.

After the game against the Canaries, Hibs Manager Lee Johnson said: “Oscar MacIntyre was outstanding, I’ve seen Hernandez terrorise Championship wing-backs, so he will be extremely pleased with his performance.”

Oscar, who is now in his fourth season with the Club, will continue working with Steve Kean and the Development Squad, alongside training with Lee Johnson’s First Team.

His brother, Jacob, is just 16 years of age, and has been training on occasion with the First Team.

The versatile midfielder was virtually ever-present for the U18s last season as they won the CAS Elite U18 Youth League and has continued to impress in the Development Team.

Alongside this, he has been noticed by his nation earning caps and captaining Scotland’s Under-16s!

After the pair signed long-term deals, Academy Manager Steve Kean said: “It’s fantastic for them as two young players, for their family to see their children sign long-term contracts, and for us as an Academy to bring through players that are close to pushing into the First Team.

“Speaking to their parents, they’re very competitive with each other, in a good way, and they drive each other on. Last year when Oscar was with the First Team, Jacob was ecstatic, and now they’re both training with Lee Johnson and his staff.

“They are both there on merit and whenever they play Development Team or U18 football – which Jacob can still do – they always shine. They’re two fabulous lads.”

Boyd MacIntyre, the father of Jacob and Oscar, added: “The journey for the boys has been incredible and as their parents it’s the best feeling ever.

“The opportunities at the Club have been the key for us. There’s been a pathway which the Manager has drawn out and they’re both really excited.

“Steve Kean has always been really honest with me too and told me he’d give every child a chance and if they showed promise, then they’d get an opportunity. In both my kids’ cases it’s happened.”
