U18s Face Hearts In Wee Edinburgh Derby

The Wee Hibees are back in action this Friday as they take on Hearts in the Wee Edinburgh Derby at Oriam.

The young team will be looking to get back to winning ways after drawing with Dundee United in midweek.

Gareth Evans' side fought back from 2-0 down to earn a draw thanks to goals from Oscar MacIntyre and Connor Young in the last ten minutes.

With Rangers U18s winning on Tuesday night, that means the Wee Hibees currently sit second in the table, one point behind the Glasgow side but with four games in hand.

Providing Rangers win their two remaining fixtures, the Wee Hibees need 8 points from their next six games to guarantee the title.

Gareth Evans will be without striker, Ethan Laidlaw, who is away on international duty. Ethan was called up to the First Team squad for the first time on Tuesday night but was an unused substitute.

The 17-year old now flies out to Isreal with the Scotland U17 squad for the upcoming UEFA Under-17 Championship Finals.

Gareth Evans will be without Josh O'Connor who is unavailable through injury.

The Wee Jambos come into this one off the back of two defeats to Rangers - one in the Scottish Youth Cup Final (2-1) and more recently in the league (3-1).

In our previous two meetings this season we have won one and lost one. On our last visit to Oriam the Wee Hibees came from behind to win 4-1 in December. The Hibees front four were firing that day with Young, Laidlaw, Hamilton and O'Connor all getting on the scoresheet. Read the full report!

In the most recent fixture between the sides, Gareth Evans' side fell to a frustrating 1-0 defeat at HTC.

The match takes place on Friday 13 May, 2022 (kick-off at 7.30pm) at Oriam (Heriot Watt University, Currie EH14 4AS) and supporters are welcome to attend free of charge!
