Lucy becomes the sixth new face at Hibernian Women this summer, with Gabby English, Toni Malone, Michaela McAlonie, Alexa Coyle and Erin Rennie all having been previously announced.

However, the 19-year-old will immediately return to Glasgow Women on loan for the 2021/22 SWPL 2 season.

“She’s a very technical player who has a brilliant understanding of the game.”

Having risen through the ranks at Glasgow City, joining the club at under-13s and going on to make her first team debut, Lucy was the captain of City’s development side, winning the league before joining Glasgow Women to experience SWPL 2 football. Ronald was made captain of the side aged just 18 and will return on loan to continue her development this season.

Head Coach Dean Gibson has been a long-time admirer of Ronald’s, saying: “Lucy is a player who’s always been a stand-out through the youth set up. This was recognised by Glasgow City, who gave her her debut a couple of years ago. Since then, her ability has been further recognised by Glasgow Women, who Lucy has captained at a young age. She’s a very technical player who has a brilliant understanding of the game.

“She’s a player that we are desperate to start working with, but we are also aware of the importance of playing minutes during the next 12 months after such a disrupted season. We look forward watching Lucy grow and develop both at Glasgow Women and Hibernian over the next 12 months.”

Ronald also expressed her excitement after joining Hibernian, saying: “I’m absolutely delighted to be given this opportunity by Dean. I’m looking forward to developing my game and learning from such great players.”
