The 31-year-old shot stopper has put pen-to-paper on a deal which runs until 2023, and will work closely with goalkeeper coach Craig Samson as well as Matt Macey and Kevin Dabrowski, completing the Hibernian GK Union.

Mitchell has made over 250 career appearances and has impressed of late with Scottish League One outfit, Clyde.

He’s featured in the top three tiers of Scottish football and played for a plethora of clubs including Dundee and Falkirk.

“We had a desire to add a third senior goalkeeper to the group and one that has a lot of experience of Scottish football,” said Samson on Mitchell’s arrival.

“David completely fits that profile. He arrives at the club with a lot of experience in Scottish football playing throughout the pyramid and that will only benefit Matt and Kevin.

“David will work hard, drive the standard in training, compete with our other two goalkeepers, and help progress them as they continue to develop.”
