THE LOWDOWN
Now through the Covid outbreak that caused two of our cinch Premiership fixtures to be postponed, Jack Ross’ players are ready and raring to go this weekend.
To make it to this stage of the competition, we defeated Kilmarnock 2-0 in the last 16 at Easter Road, before an impressive performance saw us beat Dundee United 3-1 in the quarter-finals.

Rangers, on the other hand, defeated Dunfermline 5-0 in the last 16 and Livingston 2-0 in the quarter-finals.
Coming into this fixture, Steven Gerrard left the Gers to join Premier League side Aston Villa. With no manager currently appointed, Jermain Defoe, David McCallum, Brian Gilmour and Colin Stewart make up a four-man caretaker team.
TEAM NEWS
Since the Covid outbreak, those affected have now returned back to full training.
Josh Doig, Ryan Porteous, Kevin Nisbet, and Martin Boyle have all been away on international duty and will be assessed on their return to HTC.

Christian Doidge and Sean Mackie both returned to training last week, following spells out through injury. Whilst there will be updates on Kyle Magennis and Daniel Mackay from our manager Jack Ross ahead of the fixture.
THE OPPOSITION
Rangers currently sit top of the cinch Premiership – four points clear of Celtic in second place. However, as aforementioned, they lost their manager Steven Gerrard in the build up to this fixture.
In their final game under Gerrard, Rangers secured a 4-2 victory over Ross County at Ibrox. Before this, the Gers defeated Motherwell 6-1 and drew 2-2 with Aberdeen – meaning they have scored 12 goals in their last three domestic games.

Rangers have not won the League Cup since 2011 and were eliminated in the quarter-finals last season at the hands of St Mirren.
Kemar Roofe is their top scorer with five this season, whilst captain James Tavernier has arguably been their standout performer with three goals and eight assists to his name, alongside some solid defensive performances.
HEAD-TO-HEAD
The last time we met Rangers was in the cinch Premiership on 3 October at Ibrox.
Despite Kevin Nisbet’s strike to give us an early lead, Rangers were able to fight back against our 10-men and secured a 2-1 victory thanks to goals from Kemar Roofe and Alfredo Morelos.
Our last encounter with Rangers at Hampden was on 21 May, 2016, for the Scottish Cup Final – a game that Hibees will remember fondly.
