That game was just 10 days prior to this one and saw a magnificent performance from the Hibees; one full of endeavor, belief and resilience.

Now going into this one, he explained how that win will give his side confidence in what is another big game.

“The performance level (against Rangers), I’ve been pleased with, and I’ve referenced that a lot in the build up to the semi-final.

“The thing that was missing was the win. We put that right in the semi-final and we want to do that again.

“We believe that we can pose a threat, as we’ve shown in the games, and we have to play well, which goes without saying. We did that in the semi-final in all aspects of our game and we have to repeat that.

“We go into it with the belief we can win the game.”

There has been a change for Rangers, however, with Giovanni van Bronckhorst in the technical area.

He won his opening two games in charge, but selected two different tactical approaches in those matches.

“To date there’s been slight changes in their approach, certainly in the forward areas,” said Ross. “But the games and being played by the same personnel that we’ve faced over the last couple years.

“The players are familiar with their individual or unit opponents and the attributes they have, and how well they need to play to get the better of them.

“Although there will be some changes, there’s a large degree of familiarity between the opponents.”

In terms of team news not much has changed from St Johnstone on Saturday, other than the return of our top scorer.

“Martin Boyle is back from suspension. Other than that, we came through Saturday’s game with a clean bill of health.

“The players are fit, strong, and have trained well over the last couple of days.

“It’s nice to have Martin back available and to have all the remaining players, apart from the long-term injuries back with us as well.”
