Zoe Ness’ early second-half strike was enough to earn Rangers all three points.
The game started with a fast tempo as both sides looked to create a chance early on. The first half-chance of the match fell to Hibernian’s Colette Cavanagh, whose shot from just inside the Rangers box flashed wide of Fife’s post.
A freekick from just inside the Hibs half in the 21st minute allowed Rangers to create something. The freekick was delivered into the box, however, the ensuing effort from Rangers went wide.
The visitors created another chance in ghe 20th minute, as they worked the ball well down the left-hand side and forced Joelle Murray into making an excellent block to deny Rangers from opening the score.
The first half soon turned into a cagey affair with both sides looking to find an opening but struggling to break down the opposing defence.
Cavanagh had another effort for Hibs, this time in the 27th minute from outside the box. The forward’s shot was on target but was well gathered by Fife.
There was a stoppage in play around the half-hour mark as a Rangers player received some treatment. This followed some good play from Rangers that saw the team deliver a well-worked cross. The chance came to nothing in the end, however, as Hibs defended well inside their box and were able to clear any danger.
This turned out to be one of the final actions of the half as the referee blew their whistle for half time with the scores level.
Gabby English was forced into an excellent save with her feet within the first few minutes of the second half. The Rangers forward looked destined to score but was denied by a terrific stop.
Rangers broke the deadlock in the 49th minute through a goal from Ness from outside the box. There was nothing English could do about this one.
English was forced into another great save in the 65th minute following a Rangers break. The first 20 minutes of the second half were largely dominated by Rangers as they looked to double their advantage. However, Hibs defended well in this period and were able to stay in the game.
Just like the first half, the second half soon became cagey with neither side able to create many clear-cut chances. The visitors were able to successfully take the sting out of the game after their goal and stopped Hibs from creating anything late on.
The referee eventually blew the whistle as the game ended 1-0, with the visitors taking home all three points.
