We went into the game knowing that a win over Aberdeen would secure third place, whilst Stephen Glass’ side knew they had to win to have a realistic chance of catching us.

The home side had the best chance to take the lead. Callum Hendry had an excellent chance from 15-yards out, but his effort flew over the bar.

Soon after, in what was our first chance of the game, a long ball from Darren McGregor was helped into the path of Christian Doidge, who gracefully hit his half-volley from outside the box into the net.

Jack Ross’ side had to dig-in during the second period and try to nullify the Aberdeen threats. An excellent performance from man of the match McGregor helped us secure all three points and help us set a club record 11th away win of the season.

After the game, Jack Ross told Sky Sports: “You saw by the reaction of the players and staff how much it meant to us.

“It's been the driver from day one and it was a realistic ambition but also a big one. It's been 16 years since we finished in that position.

“We asked the group to be honest and they felt they could finish third. I thought that was a big target but achievable and they've shown brilliant resilience and character to do that. It's been a brilliant season."
