The 21-year-old marked his first start for the Club with a goal, getting on the end of a Chris Cadden cross and applying a fine finish at the end of the first half.

Clarke's strike cancelled out Ross Graham's opener for United but neither side could break the deadlock in the second half and the match finished 1-1.

Speaking to Hibs TV after the match, Clarke told us that he had mixed emotions after the match.

"It was amazing to make my debut. The atmosphere was good and I got a nice warm reception from the Hibs fans and it was nice to get a goal as well to keep them happy.

"But ultimately, the mood in the changing is one of disappointment – it feels like a loss really. We were disappointed to go a goal down, so we were always chasing the game.

"It was a game of ups and downs to be honest, I felt we dominated the ball and threatened a lot more than they did but we should of won the game and taken all three points.

Clarke started at left-wing back and was a prominent threat going forward all game. He had a right-footed shot in the first have which United keeper Benjamin Siegrist did brilliantly to tip over the post.

Following that, Clarke got himself on the scoresheet in stoppage time at the end of the first half.

"It was my striker's instinct from back in the day," Clarke told Hibs TV.

"I tried to do the same thing five minutes early when Cadds whipped one in but the defender got a little touch on it. The second time I took a good first touch, made a good connection and I am glad it hit the back of the net."

The result means we dropped to sixth in the table, with just one game remaining before the split. Despite only making his first appearance for the Hibees today, Clarke understands the importance of the next to games for the Club and is relishing the challenge of facing Hearts.

"We don’t need any more incentive for the next two Edinburgh derbies, they are massive. The added pressure is going to take our game to the next level.

"We have to go there and relish the occasion, we need to go there and get the three points if we want to finish inside the top six and push for Europe.”
