To raise awareness of the importance of CPR, the badge will be seen in the centre of our famous green shirt between the Hibernian FC crest and the Joma badge, in the place where CPR should be performed.
The badge contains key information to help people learn about giving CPR. When CPR is needed, the badge is there to help guide them, with the information they need at the most critical time.
In what is one of our most eagerly anticipated games of the season, the badge will be seen by thousands as we take on Hearts in the Edinburgh Derby at Tynecastle.
Hibernian FC’s Commercial Director, Greg McEwan, commented:
“Having the Extra Time badge on our shirts in the place where CPR should be performed sends out a really powerful message and will hopefully educate supporters, young footballers, coaches and parents on the key steps of CPR.
“It’s vital that everyone has a strong understanding on how to perform CPR, and hopefully this gesture will go a small way in helping to enhance those key messages.”
John McPartland, Creative Director for Health at The Leith Agency, the team behind The Extra Time Badge, said:
"Every week we’ve spent working on the campaign there have been incidents around the country where CPR could have saved somebody's life, and this drove us forward constantly.
This is not your traditional awareness campaign - we wanted to produce something that can actually help people, at the exact moment when they need it most."
When suffering a Sudden Cardiac Arrest, every minute without CPR and de-fibrillation decreases your chance of survival by around 10% according to research. Yet, despite this, over 38% of adults in the UK are unlikely to perform CPR because of a lack of training. Giving CPR is vital to giving those we love some extra time.
