The attacking midfielder’s second half strike was crucial for the Hibees as they ran out 1-0 winners in Paisley, in what was an incredibly close encounter.

When speaking to Hibs TV, the 22-year-old admitted that it was a tough game, but one he’s elated to come out on top of.

“We’re very pleased with the result. Obviously, it’s been a tough week with the manager leaving, but we’re delighted to get the three points; that’s the most important thing.

“St Mirren are a good side, and we knew that coming into the game. They work hard, they’re hard to break down and it was tough for me to get on the ball personally, but obviously I got the chance to score, and I took, which I’m delighted about.”

That was Henderson’s first goal for the club after making the switch from Celtic in January, and he’s hoping that’s something he can build on before the end of the season.

“I was delighted to score my first goal,” smiled the youngster. “I’ve been trying every week, and I’m finally off the mark and hopefully I can score many more for the club!”

There are now four games left and Hendo wants to finish the campaign positively.

“We will take it game by game; we’ve got Livingston next week which will be a tough game.

“We will see how that goes and kick on. We will work hard in training to make sure we can kick on from this.”
