The Hibees came from behind twice to earn a point with Josh Campbell popping up again in the last minute to spark celebrations in the Scottish capital.

When reviewing the game with Hibs TV, our Manager Lee Johnson gave his view on the game.

“We’ve worked out this club isn’t good for my heart,” he joked.

“The first half was disappointing because we didn’t lay a glove on them in my eyes. We changed the shape and, with the circumstances we ahead in the week leading up to the game, we tried to get the most in-form players into a formation.

“I thought Rangers recognised and worked out quickly where our soft points were, and we didn’t apply pressure like I promised; that was the disappointing thing. I know what the supporters want to see and we’re very early in the stages of our development.

“At half-time I wasn’t happy, and we needed to be more on the front-foot and aggressive. I wanted the centre-halves on the half-way line, I wanted wide men pressing centre-halves and we slowly started to get back into the game.

“That combination again of Youan and Boyle was a good one, particularly when we caught them on the counter, because of their speed and agility, and that was a good goal for us.

“I was disappointed to concede after that because I thought we were in the ascendancy.

“Our front foot aggression then led to the incidents and circumstances that allowed us to attack nine men for the last 15 minutes. We did it ok, we tried to put the right bodies in the right areas but lacked a bit of finesse with our crossing.

“It’s difficult actually, I know it doesn’t sound like it should be, but when they’re organised with eight or nine bodies, you need something a little extra, like Josh Campbell’s goal, to turn it round.”

It was the young midfielder who grabbed the strike, and the Manager reserved special praise for him.

“He’s a really honest young player, he’s fit as a fiddle, and he’s one of our own coming through the Academy. Everyone should understand that players like that need support.

“You have to earn the right to play for the team and it should be a heavy heart playing for Hibs. You have to put in performances to get the shirt, and so far, from what I’ve seen and learnt about Josh, he’s a trustworthy player.

“If you can add goals like at St Johnstone away or today, he can put tackles in, and get up and down the pitch, then there’s a place for him.”
