A first half brace from Jay McGarva followed by a strike from Jacob MacIntyre put Hibs in cruise control in an eventful opening 45.
Ethan Laidlaw added two penalties early in the second half - rubber-stamping the win as the wee Hibees ran riot at HTC against our Edinburgh rivals.
Gareth Evans' side was fuelled from the get-go and thanks to some high-intensity pressing, they managed to take the lead within the opening three minutes.
Some neat passing around the box gave Ethan Laidlaw plenty of time to pick his head up and find Jay McGarva with a scooped pass. McGarva kept his eye on the ball as it dropped onto his left foot, calmly slotting it into the bottom left corner to open the scoring.

The early goal only elevated Hibs’ performance as they dominated possession, looking for an opportunity to get in behind the Hearts defence and grab another.
Constant pressure resulted in a second goal for Jay McGarva in the 20th minute.
Rueben McAllister whipped in a teasing corner which was met by Ethan Laidlaw at the back post. Laidlaw’s header came crashing off the bar, but McGarva was in the right place at the right time to tap in the rebound and double the wee Hibees lead.
It only took Hibs four minutes to add another goal to their tally, this time through Jacob MacIntyre.

Dean Clelland did well to shrug off his man and slip Jacob MacIntyre in down the right-hand side. MacIntyre used his blistering pace to beat the Hearts defender to the ball and kept a cool head to slot the ball under the on-rushing goalkeeper.
A three-goal cushion gave the wee Hibees the confidence to settle down and play at a slower pace, however, the visitors almost took advantage.

A floated ball into the box past the half hour mark was not dealt with by the Hibs backline. Hearts’ No.17 was able to meet the ball with his head, but Freddie Owens was on his toes and got down well to prevent the ball from creeping past him at the near post.
Hibs kept their foot on the gas heading into the second 45 and won two penalties within ten minutes.
Owen Hastie was dragged down from a corner leaving the referee with no choice but to point to the spot. Ethan Laidlaw stepped up and smashed it down the middle of the target.
Less than five minutes later, a handball inside the area allowed Laidlaw to grab his second from the spot, with the striker opting for the bottom right corner this time.

The visitors became a lot more rigid in defence following the fifth in the hope of killing the onslaught of goals.
Hibs were ever professional and kept playing their game, searching for another goal, but they, unfortunately, could muster up another opportunity of note.
An excellent performance all over the park gave the wee Hibees a well-deserved victory and bragging rights over their city rivals.
