Arthur Duncan

A vital part of Turnbull’s Tornadoes, Arthur Duncan played a key role in one of the Club’s greatest periods of success.

The left-winger joined Hibs from Partick Thistle in 1969 originally under the guidance of Manager Willie MacFarlane, but then went on to flourish under the management of Eddie Turnbull.

One of ‘Turnbull’s Tornadoes’, Arthur helped the Club win the Scottish League Cup in 1972, and rise to second in the league in both 1974 and 1975 – this was the Club’s greatest period since the Famous Five.

One of Duncan’s most eye-catching moments was when he scored twice in the Club’s magnificent 7-0 win against Hearts on New Year’s Day in 1973.

His memorable displays also earnt him international recognition with Scotland. In total, he made 626 appearances – meaning he’s second in the Club’s all-time appearance list – and scored 114 goals.

Stephen Glass

A wave of assists and flourishing under Tony Mowbray, Stephen Glass certainly made his mark over his 105 appearances for the Hibees.

In a tale at times of what could’ve been so much more, Glass’ impact was hampered by injuries, but when he was available, he was firing on all cylinders.

It was his second season where he showed his true quality as he helped Mowbray’s side finish third in the top-flight and secure a UEFA Cup place.

The following season he continued in the same vein and chipped in with key goals, in particular his free-kick in a win over Dunfermline. Injuries again played a part in his time with us before he joined Dunfermline Athletic in 2007.

Joe Newell

After overcoming a difficult start, Joe Newell has adapted his game and become one of the first names on the teamsheet.

The Englishmen joined Hibs in 2019 from Rotherham United as a left-winger, but struggled in the wide area. After being switched into a more central role by Jack Ross, Joe has flourished and has been virtually ever-present under every manager that’s followed.

Providing extra creativity, leadership, and a bite in the tackle in the middle of the park, Newell has even added goals to his name this season having his most prolific campaign to date in front of goal.

Off the pitch, Joe takes an active role in helping the Club’s younger players and is a huge character off it with his jovial personality.

So far he has made 122 appearances for the Hibees, and there will be many more to come in the future.
