“We have played against a quality side and they were at the top of their game. They are hard to stop at the best of times and they were very good today.
“From a defensive aspect, we were ok. A lot of shots and crosses, but we blocked a lot of those shots and defended a lot of those crosses. I think it was just on the ball we froze a little bit.
“We asked the players today to play with freedom, to play through the thirds, to create angles and to go and showcase how good you are on the ball. I think that is the part that let us down today. I don’t think we did that well enough but at the same time, it has been critical because Rangers are a good side. Defensively and offensively when they are (Rangers) at the top of their game they are a hard team to get anything from.”

Gibson also mentioned how his squad can be proud moving forward.
“As a team, we couldn’t keep the ball, it was just one of those days. The frustrating part is that we trained so well yesterday (Saturday) on possession, keeping the ball and finding angles and we were good.
“Sometimes it just happens that it is just not your day. You just do not want that to come in a cup final against the side that are probably the most inform in the league.
“The players are going to be deflated at the moment, it is going to be raw, but they have got to keep their heads up because as much as it is hard for them to hear right now, we have beaten a quality side in Glasgow City to get here (to the final). We have limited Rangers to a few clear-cut chances in a game. They (Hibs) can compete with the best in this league and the more we experience these types of games, the better they will start to perform.”
