The 25-year-old, who suffered an ACL injury back in February earlier this year, marked his return to the side with a goal, albeit in a 3-2 defeat against Rangers on Thursday evening.

Speaking to Hibs TV, Nisbet admitted he had mixed feelings after the match.

“It was my first game back in a long time, so it’s great to get a goal but overall we are all disappointed with the result."

The Hibees led twice in the opening 16 minutes at Ibrox with Ryan Porteous and Nisbet scoring either side of Fashion Sakala in what was a hectic start to the match.

But second-half goals from Ryan Jack and Alfredo Morelos turned the game on its head and Rangers claimed all three points.

“It was a frantic start, but I thought we dealt with it well. We picked up second balls, we were tidy in possession and created chances on the counter-attack.

"We got ourselves 2-1 up going into half time, but in the second half we conceded two soft goals.

“The goals we conceded were disappointing from a team perspective but we will analyse them and take it from there.

“The performance today was a lot better than in recent games, so that gives us something to build on ahead of next week - we will go into the Livingston game full of confidence.”
