Dabrowski was named man-of-the-match in his first competitive game for the club, nearly five years on from when he first signed for Hibs back in 2017, aged 18.

The 23-year-old made some key saves during a frantic Edinburgh Derby which, despite both teams having chances to win it, ended goalless at Easter Road last night.

Speaking to HibsTV after the game, Dabrowski told us how proud he was with his performance.

“I am delighted about playing my first game, at the moment, my feelings are all mixed up - I am emotional, speechless, happy and overall relieved because I have been working hard for this moment.

“To keep a clean sheet, after the match it felt amazing. Hibs is a second home for me. The way the Hibs fans have treated me over the years, especially as a young boy. I can’t speak highly enough of the fans, they have been so good with me so I was so happy that I could make them proud tonight.”

Dabrowski denied both Hearts strikers Liam Boyce and Ellis Simms at important points in the match to keep the scores level.

“Making saves is my thing. I have been doing it in friendly matches, bounce games and in training. So nobody was surprised that I made those saves, everyone from the club knew what was coming when I came into the team.

“I was very comfortable and confident that I would make those saves at those crucial times.”

The Polish goalkeeper has had to wait patiently for his opportunity, starting every match this season on the bench without featuring. He shared with us, his initial reaction when Shaun Maloney told him he was starting.

“I was happy, emotional and full of confidence when I heard.

“I have been working really hard for that moment, I’ve always believed that this moment would come, even though there have been many ups and downs along the way.

"I have been told many times that I am on the bench or that I won’t play, but I’ve kept going, never gave up and I have been working hard and believing in myself.

"I knew that it would eventually happen, and thankfully it happened tonight and I was ready for it."

It was a full house at Easter Road for the first Edinburgh Derby in Leith since 2020. Dabrowski insists that the electric atmosphere last year inspired the players to raise their level.

“The more people that are in the stadium the better I feel. The stadium was so energetic and it gave us a boost of confidence as players. I loved it every minute. I was born for it.

“We go again on Saturday, hopefully same again and another clean sheet.”
