A convincing 4-2 victory against Rangers on Friday evening ensured the Hibernian U18’s kept their unbeaten record intact.

Gareth Evans was thrilled with their performance and is looking towards the future for many members of the squad.

Speaking to hibernianfc.co.uk, Gareth said:

“I’m really delighted with their performance tonight. They kept their shape and were really really disciplined. We were excellent in transition and scored some great goals.”

The Wee Hibees were excellent throughout the 90 minutes and produced an incredibly professional performance, working as a unit and maintaining their shape.

“It’s all part of their education within the academy, its part of their development to understand how to play different ways and they executed the game plan that was given to them very well.”

An excellent team display helped Hibs to the 4-2 win, but standout performances in the middle of the park from Ethan Laidlaw and Murray Aiken ensured the victory. Speaking on the pair’s performances, Gareth said:

“Ethan was absolutely terrific tonight, he’s away with Scotland U17’s now so that will be good for him, and Murray Aiken did really well going back into the middle of the park.

“The biggest thing for the players is to develop as football players. A lot of them have been training with the first team recently which is great.

“It’s not all about winning every game of the season - obviously we want to go on and do that but it’s about them boys developing as people and as football players."
